Should you let from us privately, leases range between 10 and 12 months in length. All students are required to pay a breakage deposit which is fully refundable should there be no breakages and your rental is up to date. In some cases, NSFAS funded students do not have to pay the deposit, this is university specific.
You can apply with us in advance of the academic year. Remember to book early because if you leave it later than early February you may miss out.

Yes but we only have secure free parking available at our building Eastside, all our other buildings do not have secure parking so you bring your car at your own risk.
We only require you to vacate your bedroom in two cases: on expiry of the lease, or if it is a policy of the university that you leave the residence during the holidays period. Should you wish to leave your belongings with us over December break you would have to follow the standard pre-booking process with the residence management staff.
Room inspections are done once a month. No nails, posters, papers may be affixed on the wall.

We have cleaners who clean all common areas in the building daily. You are responsible to clean your own room and bathroom after each use.
No we do not, all our sharing rooms are NSFAS rates. Single rooms and bachelor apartments we require a non-refundable upfront fee before you move. The amount for the upfront fee is clearly displayed on our booking system.
We only have emergency back-up power. Generators will only be turned on in an emergency. Wifi will be available during power outages for up to maximum 2 hours
- Make sure you either have a torch or rechargeable light source that will last.
- Keep track of the loadshedding schedule, you can download an app called EskomSePush.
- Make sure you plan ahead and all your electronic devices are fully charged.
- Turn off and unplug all electrical devices when you are not using them.
- Leave your freezer and refrigerator doors closed as much as possible to preserve the temperatures inside.
- Save emergency contact information on your phone but also keep a printed copy close by.
- Make sure you download your favourite shows before time.
- Stock up on extra snacks you don’t have to cook.
When you first move in you will be set up with uncapped Wi-Fi, which will always be on and will last maximum 2 hours when there is load shedding. Please plan accordingly when there is load shedding.
We do not have computer facilities on site, please use the campus computers or bring your own laptop.
Urban Circle has no house committee. The building is managed by a resident manager or building manager and house mother.
All residences have laundry rooms, equipped with washing machines and driers. The cost for 2025 is set at R15 per laundry cycle to wash and dry. Note that we do not supply cleaning materials, powders or detergents.
